RESEARCH/ANALYSIS’ PAPERS

All Research/Analysis’ papers must be submitted using the TTUS Paper Format Requirements and are taken from the  APA guidelines.

Analysis’ Papers:

The student of this course on Jeremiah and Lamentations will be required as a final exam to research and write a 13 to 15 page  report (Approximately 3000 to 3500 words) on one of the following questions listed below. The questions will also be listed in the final exam portion of the course work as well. The paper will be, double spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font and the student will be required to follow the TTUS Paper Format Requirements.

The paper will be an opinion paper and 8 to 15 references will be required along with a Bibliology.  The student when referring to the Bible in these reports will only cite the Bible reference (Matthew 1:1) and will not include the scripture in the report only the citation. The Student may choose either Endnotes (The references are included on a separate page/pages at the end of the article.) or Footnotes (The reference will appear at the bottom of the page on which the quote is stated) but the student will not do both. To make it clear on what is expected from the student, both a Bibliology and Endnotes/Footnotes will be required.

  1.   Like Isaiah, Jeremiah frequently uses the word “woe” [“oy” in Hebrew].   But rather than using the word as just a warning to evil doers, Jeremiah takes the woe to his own heart.  Its often woe is *us* or woe is *me.* Note his personal laments in Jeremiah 4:13, , 4:31, 6:4, 10:19, 15:10 and 45:3. What exactly is his complaint in each instance?
  2.  What personal sacrifices does Jeremiah have to make in order to fulfill his role as a prophet?  Why does he have to make these sacrifices?  Which would be most difficult?  Note especially Chapter 16.
  3. The Bible uses symbolism to deepen the message God has for His people. One such symbol is that of potter and clay. The most detailed example is found in Jeremiah 18. What should we as Christians learn from the symbolism of the potter and clay in the Bible?
  4. In the book of Lamentations chapter 3, Jeremiah speaks about God’s mercies being renewed morning by morning and how there is hope in the Lord. Using the book of Lamentations, especially  Lamentations 3:19-33 please answer the following questions…
  • What did the poet recall, according to these verses of this book? (Lamentations 3:19-21)
  • In the middle of lamenting the siege and destruction of Jerusalem, what profound assurance did the writer express in these verses? (Lamentations 3:22-24)
  • What virtues were affirmed by the author in these verses of this book? (Lamentations 3:25-27)
  •  How was God’s mercy revealed in suffering, according to these verses? (Lamentations 3:28-33)
