The Covenant Code of Honor

  • In The Covenant Code of Honor, I fully recognize that the Texas Theological University was founded to be and is committed to being a New Testament ministry of Metropolitan Baptist Church. It offers a lifestyle of commitment to Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord as an integral part of its discipleship and evangelistic outreach. It is therefore my personal commitment to be a person of integrity in my attitude and respect for the Texas Theological University in its directive of 2 Timothy 2:2 in training for a ministry for our Lord.

I COVENANT to apply myself wholeheartedly to my academic studies and my mind for the glory of God.

I COVENANT to grow in my spirit in developing my own relationship with God through prayer, reading and sharing of the Word.

I COVENANT to cultivate good relationships socially with others and to seek to love others as I love myself. I will not lie, I will not steal, I will not curse and I will not be involved in gossip.

I COVENANT to keep myself under subjection from all immoral and illegal acts and habits. I will refrain from illegal drugs, and any sexual behavior outside of marriage between one man and one woman. I will not drink alcoholic beverages of any kind, I will not use tobacco, I will not engage in other behavior that is contrary to the standards of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

I COVENANT to maintain an integrity of “openness” to God’s claims on my life, and to do my utmost to know and follow His will for my life.

I COVENANT to respect the things of God; the vision, the pastor, the church and its leadership, the teachers, and my fellow classmates.

I COVENANT to responsibly serve the Lord and Church with integrity and a humble heart of servant-hood.

I COVENANT to attend class as required and support all services and activities of my local church.

I COVENANT to fulfill all financial obligations that I enter into while in training at the Texas Theological University.

I COVENANT to abide by the rules and regulations which may from time to time be adopted by Metropolitan Baptist Church. I understand the Texas Theological University is a private institute, and I therefore have no vested rights in the governing of the institute. I accept my attendance at Texas Theological University as a PRIVILEGE and NOT a right... and the institute reserves the right to require the withdrawal of a student upon the judgment of the pastoral administration. I understand my signature below is my acceptance of the entire Covenant Code of Honor and completes a contract between me and the Texas Theological University which becomes a part of my permanent file.
